Sex Trafficking - Forced
Directed By: Michael Meekins
Childhood is meant to be a time of joy and blissful innocence. It’s
within the beginning stages of life where you should be permitted to
grow to discover who you are and what you hope to become in the
future. It is meant to be a time where the imagination and wonders of
life are allowed the opportunity to blossom into hopes and dreams.
However, unfortunately, some children are deprived of that right. Some
children are faced with the misfortune of being caught up in the
vicious cycle of human trafficking. With the average age of victims
who are subjected to this crime being between ages 12 to 14, these
young girls and boys are forced to part ways with their innocence. The
issue of human sex trafficking is undeniable, but for some reason
seems falls short of many people’s concern because they don’t believe
it’s happening in their own backyard, so to speak. In this film, we
intend to explore the different stories and accounts of this
reoccurring tragedy, bringing them to light so that people realize
that this issue is real and is literally close to home. For a while,
statistics have been on display, but those numbers don’t really come
to life until you hear the stories and can play a name to a specific
tragedy. The truth does hurt, but knowing will help.
