I found Daisy Miller and Super Sad True Love Story to be similar in regards to the fact that the tone, diction, varies between formal and informal in both stories. While the overall tone in Daisy Miller Is more formal as it takes place in the 1870's characters in both stories switch from both formal and informal dialogue depending on the mode in which they are communicating and the setting that they are in. I believe that the author's did this not only to give their character's personality but also to help the reader's better understand the thought process of the characters.

The main similarity that I found in both stories was that the true feelings of the girls were expressed when they spoke in an informal manner. Either through online messaging (IM, Email) in Super Sad True Love Story or through journal writing in Daisy Miller. In addition, the men of both stories were attracted to the women because the women are unique and embody a sense of youthfulness.  Both Winterbourne and Lenny were interested in the females of the story from the moment that they met them. While the men knew what they wanted Daisy and Eunice did not and their feelings are depicted throughout informal communication.
